When we set up your site, it will have one or more payment methods for customers to use on Checkout. (Credit Card, Financial Aid, etc...) To activate or deactivate certain methods, you can go to: Store Administration >> Configuration >> Payment Methods, then click the "Payment Methods" area. You will be presented with options like this:
